Join Our Team as an Internal Auditor - Compliance!

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the healthcare sector? As the Internal Auditor - Compliance at Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our organization adheres to regulatory standards and enhances our compliance program. Under the guidance of the Chief Compliance Officer, you will assess and improve compliance effectiveness, making a real difference in our community.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and report on compliance audits across various MVHS departments.
• Review and analyze processes to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Identify compliance risks and assess their impact on our organization.
• Develop risk assessment strategies to mitigate identified risks.
• Assist in policy development and enforcement across the system.
• Deliver compliance training based on audit findings.
• Prepare detailed audit reports in collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance compliance efforts.
• Monitor industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Conduct internal and external audits and track findings.
• Analyze audit data to identify patterns and trends.
• Serve as the primary RAC and appeals liaison for the hospital.
• Coordinate with the Appeals team on CMS audits.
• Conduct internal compliance investigations as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements related to coding and billing.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
• 3-4 years of experience in a healthcare environment.
• Strong understanding of coding.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with technology and a willingness to learn new applications.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in coding, documentation, and billing audits.

Licensure/Certification

Preferred:

• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification, or eligibility for examination with experience in coding acute care inpatient and outpatient records.
