Responsibilities

The Organizational Development (OD) Consultant works as a member of the organizational development consulting team in TSNE’s consulting and training department. In this role the consultant brings a values-based approach to working with client organizations and across TSNE’s organizational consulting work.

The Consultant serves as a primary point of contact between organizational development clients and TSNE and provides assessment, design, guidance, coaching, training consultation services, and support for implementation of OD services. The consultant supports other OD consulting services as needed across the consulting and training department and TSNE organization.

Essential Functions

Consulting & Training – 70%

  • Plan, design, and deliver consulting and training engagements for non-profit organizations and other clients through a process consulting approach, supporting organizational development and capacity building processes, including, but not limited to organizational assessments, strategic planning, board development, and facilitating change processes.
  • Conduct intake and scoping calls with prospective clients to assess needs and readiness.
  • Work with prospective clients to prepare proposals and scopes of work, including fee estimates.
  • Manage consulting engagements, ensuring a balance of client needs, resource constraints, and project timelines.
  • Work with the OD team to ensure resources needed for assigned engagements are available.
  • Ensure that high quality, responsive, culturally competent consulting and training services are delivered.
  • Integrate lens of DEIB and emergent strategy across client engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with consulting and training staff to design and deliver training on organizational development and capacity building topics.
  • Manage and update information and communications within TSNE databases with regard to assigned consulting and training engagements.

Practice Development and Organizational Support – 30%

  • Continuous assessment of the effectiveness of various OD Development frameworks, tools and resources; make refinements where needed in collaboration with the OD consulting team.
  • Engage with OD consulting team meetings to ensure alignment and thoughtful refinement of consulting services.
  • Partner with Learning and Evaluation team to inventory and understand OD outcomes and program success.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications team to promote OD and capacity building services to share services and practice.
  • Develop and disseminate tools, resources, and working papers to advance the capacity building practices of TSNE.
  • Serve as a thought partner and work in collaboration with Consulting and Training Team members, as well as with other TSNE departments to advance program planning and to lift up and share lessons learned.
  • Participate in TSNE-wide projects and initiatives as needed and approved by supervisor.

Complete other tasks and projects related to the position, as needed.

  • Two or more years of experience in management, organizational development, or roles requiring strategic problem-solving, facilitation, and advising diverse stakeholders.
  • Five or more years of experience working with organizational leaders in community-based nonprofit organization(s) is preferred.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience in implementing organizational theory and practices, especially in mission-focused and community-based organizations.
  • Knowledge of organizational operations and dynamics, with a focus on effective capacity building.
  • Experience supporting and consulting with external groups, organizations and clients is required.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and facilitating engaging trainings, workshops, retreats and other organizational/team interventions.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop work plans, coordinate timelines, track progress, and ensure successful completion of projects within scope, budget, and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the principles of emergent strategy and their application in consulting, including the ability to navigate complexity, adapt to change, and foster collaboration for transformative outcomes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A sophisticated intersectional analysis of race, power, privilege, and systems, with an understanding of their structural impacts.
  • Strong cultural competence and the ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships across cultural differences.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Brings creativity and innovation to problem-solving and daily responsibilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally, with occasional evening or weekend commitments.
