Job Summary


  • Hours of Work: Monday - Friday: Center hours are 6:30 am - 5:30 pm. Shifts can vary depending on coverage.
  • Screening will begin ASAP and continue until the position(s) is filled.

Job Summary:

The Substitute Teacher is a full-time, benefited position that supports the classroom teaching teams in delivering high-quality educational experiences. This role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations by providing consistent care and education across multiple classrooms. The Substitute Teacher contributes to the implementation and evaluation of classroom activities, fostering children's holistic development and helping them achieve key developmental milestones. Success in this role requires adaptability, collaboration, and strong classroom management skills to maintain a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment while supporting childcare, child development, classroom management, and family engagement outcomes.

  • Assist with maintaining active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of children by providing constant oversight in all settings-classroom, playground, and during walks-while fostering trust with families and creating a secure environment to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
  • Aid in supporting children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through developmentally appropriate activities and lessons, ensuring a strong foundation for future learning.
  • Assist the teaching teams to ensure families are well-informed about their children's progress by maintaining effective communication, fostering active participation in their child's learning through regular updates, conferences, and opportunities for classroom involvement.
  • Ensure the facility meets high educational standards, supports continuous improvement, and retains NAEYC accreditation by managing and updating accreditation portfolios. Achieve full compliance with center standards and align with state early learning guidelines and regulations.
  • Enhance professional development by contributing to staff training sessions, ensuring staff are equipped with current knowledge and skills, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field of study, OR a Child Development Associate with 3+ years of experience.
  • Ability to meet requirements of the National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation criteria including but not limited to background check, tuberculosis risk assessment, and current proficiency or willingness to obtain proficiency in Infant/Child CPR and first aid.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field of study.
  • 2-4 years of instruction in early childhood education.
